Not So Live TV ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is stored and used when you use the Not So Live TV app for Apple TV. Most importantly, all your data stays on your device — we do not collect, store, or have access to any of your personal information.
Information Stored on Your Device
Local Device Storage
Not So Live TV stores the following information locally on your Apple TV only:
- Jellyfin Server Credentials: Your server URL and username are stored in app preferences; your password is stored in the device Keychain, Apple's encrypted credential store
- Channel Configuration: The shows and movies you select for your channels, along with channel names, movie mix settings, and seasonal preferences
- Holiday Collections: Your curated seasonal content selections and any holiday commercials folder choices
- App Settings: Your preferences, including commercial playback configuration
- Viewing Data: Channel timing and playback progress used to simulate live TV
- Purchase Records: A local cache of which app features you have unlocked (see In-App Purchases below)
Critical Privacy Protection: All information is stored exclusively on your device. We operate no servers, collect no data, transmit no personal information, and store no user data externally. Your privacy is completely protected.
No External Data Collection
We do NOT collect or store:
- Personal information on external servers
- Viewing habits or preferences externally
- Device information or analytics data
- Any data that could identify you personally
In-App Purchases
Not So Live TV offers optional one-time feature unlocks and a full-version bundle. All purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store:
- We never receive your payment information, Apple ID, or any billing details
- Purchase entitlements are verified on your device using Apple's StoreKit framework
- A record of your unlocked features is cached locally on your device so the app works offline
- Purchases restore through your Apple ID on any of your devices, handled by Apple

How Your Information Is Used
The locally stored information is used to:
- Connect to your personal Jellyfin media server
- Create and manage your personalized TV channels
- Remember your viewing progress and channel timing
- Schedule seasonal content during holiday windows you configure
- Unlock features you have purchased
Data Storage and Security
100% Local Storage
All your data is stored exclusively on your device using:
- Device Keychain: Encrypted storage for your Jellyfin server password
- App Preferences (UserDefaults): Settings, channel configuration, and timing data
- Device Memory: Temporary app state while running
Privacy-First Security
- No external servers: We do not operate any servers that store user data
- No data transmission to us: Your personal information never leaves your device except to connect directly to your own Jellyfin server
- Keychain encryption: Server credentials are protected by Apple's Keychain
- Direct connection only: The app communicates only with the Jellyfin server you configure
Third-Party Services
Your Jellyfin Media Server
Not So Live TV connects directly to the Jellyfin server you configure. Traffic between the app and your server (including artwork, video streams, and library metadata) travels over your network according to your server's configuration. We recommend using HTTPS for servers accessed over the internet. Please review your Jellyfin server's own configuration for how your media data is handled.
No Analytics or Tracking
We do not use any analytics, tracking, or data collection services. Your usage of the app is completely private and not monitored.
Your Rights and Choices
- Access: Your configuration is visible in the app's Settings
- Delete: Log out to remove stored credentials, or delete the app to remove all local data
- Modify: Update your server credentials and preferences at any time
User Content Responsibility
Important Legal Disclaimer:
Not So Live TV is a tool that organizes and plays content from your personal Jellyfin media server. You are solely responsible for:
- Content Ownership: Ensuring you have legal rights to all content accessed through the app, including shows, movies, commercials, and holiday content
- Copyright Compliance: Adhering to all applicable copyright laws and licensing agreements
- Commercial Content: If you enable retro or holiday commercials, you are solely responsible for sourcing, obtaining rights to, and ensuring legal compliance for all commercial videos on your Jellyfin server
- Legal Use: Using the app in accordance with all applicable laws
- Server Security: Maintaining the security and privacy of your Jellyfin server
We do not monitor, control, or have access to the content you access through the app. We do not provide, host, or distribute any media or commercial content. Any legal issues arising from your use of the app or content accessed through it are your sole responsibility.
Children's Privacy
Not So Live TV is not intended for children under 13. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this address with an updated "Last updated" date.
